Cannot Dial a Number with All Circuits Are Busy Message

What it means

This is by far and away the most common phone connection message you’re likely to hear when dialling a number. buzzbox uses a technology known as VoIP. VoIP is very intelligent

in that it is able to route telephone calls from thousands of different companies using dozens of different technologies from all over the globe.

However, because every bit of technology reports connection problems differently, VoIP by design is a lot less intelligent at reporting connection problems back to you simply

because it is impossible for VoIP to know everything there is to know about global phone systems and their often proprietary connection messages and codes. As a result, VoIP uses one ‘common’ message – that is “All circuits are busy now”. Below is a list of causes of this message:

• The number you’re calling is dead/disconnected/no longer valid.

• The number is experiencing connectivity issues (eg. equipment failure or power cut at the callee’s end or a digger has gone through a cable).

• In some instances it may mean the number is busy or engaged.

• If a mobile you’re calling has only recently lost signal or has run out of credit and won’t accept inbound calls.

• If the mobile is a foreign mobile without roaming enabled.

• Restricted access: We limit access to some of the more obscure destinations as a security measure by default. If you are commonly calling, or plan on calling less common destinations, let us know so we can open up the route. Typically uncommon African, Eastern European/Baltic and premium rate destinations are restricted unless you tell us otherwise.

How to get around it

Well, the simplest answer is to try the number again in the first instance, maybe a couple of minutes later. If you continue to get the message, chances are the number is

experiencing problems in some way. If you’re certain the number is correct, you can always give us a call to let us check our end but in 99% of cases, it is to do with a line fault on the number you are calling.

Check with BT

Sometimes the fault can lie with BT so check their online status page at:
